There are so many inspiring teams working to combat COVID-19 and so many incredible projects here on HWC.

We want to help as may of these projects and teams as possible to thrive: to help your projects save lives, alleviate suffering and to combat this pandemic as swiftly as we all can together.

We're committed to helping other teams and projects excel with the help of public donations. We want to help you as project leaders and volunteers gather the funds you need for your life-saving projects and we want to give those who long to help out a place to find and donate to all kinds of teams who are working to fight COVID-19.

    Our actions:

    1. Help projects and teams working on COVID-19 solutions to setup donations on trusted third-party platforms, if they need one and have not created this already.

    2. List as many projects’ donation pages as we can.

    3. Create public awareness to accrue funds for your vital work and enable those who want to support your projects to do so.

The project name is in reference to the idea that communities can help themselves in times of crises (and normally), and each individual can be both a volunteer or a person in need of help, depending on the day.

Based on a tool built for Hurricane Sandy. Build a reputation by running successful missions, delivering groceries or checking on someone, Request financial help (and donor match) for those who may be struggling financially. The reputation system and credit trust lines for credit are a core part of this which we hope to work to improve over time.

Right now the focus is on building a support tool to help local organizers stay organized.

Based on experience, the need is often towards matching volunteers with needs at first and then will move towards keeping track of reputations and such for volunteers (mission scores), and then over time, the need for funds and donor matching becomes more important. We want to build something to cover all those bases.

Integrated within this project is another project, SafeTrace API, a contact tracing solution to ensure the safety and privacy of everyone involved. This is a separate project.

Verboden Labs is helping hospitals and city public heath care officials source COVID-19 Antibody Detection Tests to determine who has recovered from the disease and is now immune. Testing for antibodies especially in people that didn't even know they had it because they had mild or no symptoms is a crucial part of the public health strategy and its impact could be enormous. A test that produces results within 15 minutes would enable healthcare workers who have already had the virus and are immune, to safely return to the front lines to care for patients. I need your help with the following tasks:
    1. Identify the best free platform for knowledge sharing about the COVID-19 antibody tests with the public health community and help setup
    2. Compile, code and maintain a list of FAQs
    3. Design assets for social media posts, infographics, e-blasts, etc. Current campaigns include: a GoFundMe campaign asking for test-kit donations. For every $30 we will donate a free test-kit to first responders in the hardest hit areas. Social media campaign: "Spread the word, not the virus" and "The only thing going viral should be this donation campaign for Test-kits for first responders"
    4. Maintain social media and e-blast campaigns

  • Growing out of a new Facebook Group (How Can I Help?) based in Mill Valley, CA, we are rapidly building a mobile app (iOS/Android) and React website (all connected) to facilitate rapid connections between individuals who need help and individuals/local businesses who can help them.

We expect our time to market to be days not weeks. We want to support local businesses who need to connect with customers in new and creative ways in order to earn revenue and to support at-risk populations who need help while in self-quarantine.

We just launched giftcardbank.org with a group of volunteers from helpwithcovid!

We’re donating gift cards to people who are the most affected by Coronavirus. You can help.

Every year $3 Billion of unspent gift cards go to waste. We’re on a mission to change that. The goal of the #ShowYourCards campaign is to encourage people from around the country to donate the gift cards that they have lying around unused on giftcardbank.org.

Gift Card Bank will make sure those gift cards get into the hands of the families who have been most affected by Coronavirus.

  • As COVID-19 spreads rapidly through the USA and the world, community testing centers are springing up across the nation. We want to help make a database of testing centers across the US (currently doesn't exist). The goal is to make it easy for people to find their closest one and provide accurate information to every community — especially as more tests become available in the coming days and weeks. For us to achieve this goal, we need your help!

In a nutshell, the COVID-19 Response Network is a system to help fulfill the needs of communities during the pandemic.

The project was originally inspired by Jae Slaby, a local community organizer in Battle Creek, Michigan that put together a local website that linked to a resource guide and timebank on Google Sheets to help people to seek and offer help, with the goal of connecting people together.

Putting this together on to a simple to use website looked to be the solution to this, to keep things user friendly and highly accessible.

We’ve entered into these strange times where self quarantining alone and making sure you don’t leave the house without your mask and gloves has become the norm.

Unfortunately what’s also starting to turn normal is the fear and anxiety that many people experience dealing with these situations that we’re now facing every single day.

I have this friend who I play online games with. His name’s Siad. He is who I actually got this idea from originally. He has lupus which is a disease that affects the immune system.

He’s the type that’s a total loner and he loves it that way.. however... this lifestyle presented several problems for him.

His condition makes him extremely susceptible to COVID-19 and the effects from it would be extremely severe for him. This makes going out and doing simple things like getting groceries much more dangerous for him than a person with a normal immune system. On top of that, since he doesn’t really have anyone else to rely on, he has no other choice but to take the risk. Imagine that… Risking your life so you can get groceries.

That’s a situation that I don’t think anyone should ever have to be put in. That is the problem that I’m solving with CheckUpOn.me.

CheckUpOn.Me provides a text-distribution and outreach tool for creating connections between volunteers and people who would like to be checked in on. During the COVID-19 pandemic our goal is to help where it's needed most by connecting people in need with volunteers who will be ready to take action..

Our solution is built on top of the Open Source React and NodeJS project called Spoke, which is maintained by MoveOn.Org. Spoke is an application that facilitates texting between end users and volunteers and is most famously known for being used by the Bernie Sanders Campaign and Elizabeth Warren Campaigns for voter outreach.

While our current goal is to support the fight against COVID-19, our end goal is to help enable virtual civic collaboration for creating the cure for significant systemic risks to which adequate public and private solutions don't exist by rapidly creating and spreading a global, community driven, open source solution.

    No location requirements.

COVID19 changed the way we live, work, interact with each other, and even the way we get hospitalized when we need medical care. For many of us, Corona Crisis has or will have in the future an enormous impact on our personal, professional, financial, and medical situation.

For this reason, we decided to start a community of people with diverse backgrounds, business, financial, medical, psychology, legal, design user experience, human experience, customer experience, service design, research, IT, software, hardware, public sector, and anything else you can think of, willing to spend 1%-5% of their time working together or advising the people working on challenges.

We launched our beta invitation yesterday, and at the time being, our Design Against Corona community has 52 people from all around the world and seven challenges to work on.

To propose impactful and feasible solutions, we need more people and more challenges.

  • Our website hosts several different projects that we have been working on over the past few weeks: 1) Aggregated Resources for people starting their own mutual aid groups 2) Ahead of the Curve - a series of panel discussions (still in early stages) and 3) Global Dispatches - a journalistic project, in which people from around the world share how COVID-19 has impacted their lives. The site is gaining traction, but is quite basic (made only with Wix and Google Suite). We would like a web developer to work on the UI.

We're developing a high scale collaboration platform with autonomous organization capabilities. Our aim is to provide groups, organizations, communities and companies with a robust tool that would enable its users to form a self-organizing, decentralized, democratic community whereby each user has a direct impact on the consensus and decision making of the group. (Imagine, for example, a space where a huge group of scientists around the globe can collaborate together on a vaccine for the Coronavirus)

We're making use of git (distributed version control system) and other cutting edge technologies to achieve our vision.

Join us to create the next generation of collective intelligence technologies!

  • During times of crisis, there is an outpour of heartfelt stories and asks for donation (rightly so). Although, it's difficult to find these stories and verify they are genuine. That's why we're building a platform that curates and verifies donation events for small businesses impacted by COVID-19. Owners and employees are being hit the hardest right now. Let's do our part to save the heart of the American economy.

Delovery is a delivery service to address the COVID-19 Pandemic. With many that are susceptible to not only contracting, but potentially dying from the virus, it is more important than ever to reduce risk.

Our delivery service is designed to have Coronavirus tested drivers to ensure that exposure and contamination are minimized for the greater population.

Right now Delovery is getting support from prominent community figures, medical professionals and governments in the United States and Canada.

    With a rally cry of:

“Reduce interactions. Reduce risk. Reduce consequences.”

It’s not hard to understand what value Delovery is bringing to communities everywhere.

In light of the COVID-19 crisis, we are creating specific programs for people who are impacted in ways such as healthcare workers, parents, those with relationship struggles, those high-risk for COVID-19, etc. We also have a program available to people on a sliding scale basis.
